Hey all you 2400 Kats and chicks (are there any women that make beats with this?) I’m have a bit of a timing drift when synced to my iMac Pro into logic. I’ve tried the drift adjustment in in the audio/midi settings but no luck. it’s the midi clock that is off about a half a beat. maybe I have to retard Logic Pro to match the 2400? any thoughts out there?
- note, I just read some old post about this issue. so ya, I read the old post.
Hi, I have the S2400 integrated with Logic Pro using Midi clock.
Make sure in logic/midi/sync that ‘clock mode’ is set to pattern. I found that Logic/Prefs/Midi ‘reset midi drivers’ is very helpful.
I use the S2400 as an aggregate device paired with two RME Fireface 800’s & have enabled ‘drift correction’ in the Audio Midi Setup app.
latency can be tackled by reducing the sample cache below 256 samples in Logic/Prefs/Audio I/O buffer size. This should give you a round trip latency time, you can also offset the midi clock by this amount in Midi sync. I hope this helps, took me a couple of hours to work it out.
Peace
Jonny
Thanks, Johnny baby. I’ve kind of figured out most of that and it’s thinking pretty good but there’s still some drift. It’s possible I have too many devices connected and that it’s just overwhelming logic. I have a ton of devices connected simultaneously. It seems to work a lot better with those almost nothing else connected to my old iMac Pro. I’ll bet a top new Mac studio or something is gonna work way better than the old Mac Pro. It’s been a workhorse, but it’s definitely lagging these days.
It’s been a while since I used my S2400 (life got busy) but as I remember, using Ableton Live also had drift. If I remember correctly setting the S2400 to being the master MIDI clock made for much tighter timing- letting Ableton Live catch up to the S2400 vs the S2400 catching up to Ableton Live. I don’t remember for certain so try it both ways and see what gives you better results.
The S2400 is not unique to this. Other drum machine/samplers have had the same issue. Give that a try and see if it fixes things. Cheers!
