Externally triggering S2400 pads

Hi Folks. Im struggling trying to trigger the pads of my S2400 using my MPC-X. Was looking to sequence the Isla using the X. Anyone know of a nice tutorial particularly regarding the setting up of the Isla. Many thanks. The Isla is receiving midi from the X but its not triggering the pads I would like.

Shift + Pad (Track Settings)
Scroll down to MIDI
Change to ‘Percussion’
Change to the relevant channel.
Press the encoder on the ‘Note’ parameters
Press the pad on your MPC
Observe the ‘Note’ parameter learn.
Come out and repeat the process for other pads.

Many thanks Brad!

I previously read the sequencer is under development to enhance it. Is that still on the radar? I find the current sequencer is very rigid and can’t get drum patters sounding as organic as on the MPC sequencers. I suppose that was by design making it similar to the SP1200 but it’s very difficult to program drums with fills or including triplet hits and 8/16ths within the same pattern.

Due to this limitation I’m relegated to programming sequences on the MPC X and trigger sounds on S2400.

Respectfully, I disagree with you.
You might just be using the wrong quantize settings or a different workflow with the machine.

Recording in at double tempo and using quantize and/or swing, different velocities etc gives totally organic sounding performance.

Perhaps you’re just more at home with the mpc workflow.

Ive had another look at the video tutorial. Think i’ll pesevere with the Isla sequence. Looks far more powerful than I first thought!
