When I assign a sample to a track, set the envelope to Classic, adjust it, it’s all good.
When I copy that track, however, the envelope is without function. Track settings show that the envelope is still set to Classic, but it looks like a Hifi envelope in slider view and it doesn’t work at all (neither as a classic nor as a hifi envelope).
Workaround: set the envelope to Hifi in Track settings, exit track settings, enter set to Classic again, voila, it’s a working classic envelope.
Given that I do copy tracks quite often especially for their settings, I hope this behaviour (which must be a bug) can be fixed.
[Personal: My S2400 is back in its case and annoying me again (also for the fact that @bradholland won’t reply to an inquiry aboout a replacement main encoder I made about four weeks ago).]
No pressure but I’m looking forward to have some really bugging bugs fixes being released. The issue mentioned in this topic included. Dope machine anyways but it’s getting complex with having to fix with workarounds.
At the moment on the top of my head 1) the change of act as banks for dsp pages is bugging me 2) the overload dsp issues resulting in crashes and glitches described in various topics, still too unstable for me 3) midi keyboard input for dsp instruments is very complex and vague to setup, I only get some to work while channels not responding or changing after setup 4) having the original sounds being played when recording, after parameter overwrite changes are made. I know, more feature requests than bugs at the moment. Most of the time encountering those I’ll just try to live with it, and they seem so random sometimes that I don’t know where to begin describing it. But I know you guys need stuff like that to work with, so l’ll try to do better on that. But in general, I would like the see some things just to be more stable, less complex or with additional disclaimers/help (documentation, cpu meter as a solution to monitor cpu load for example), with existing workflows being untouched or remain an option.
I was referring to bugs or issues in general, not specifically aimed at your post. What I mean is that for example the dsp is overload crashing, I just stop using dsp live fx and add some fx pedals in my routing, or start working in a daw for further processing.
Ok yeah I see that. Had the DSP and got rid of it because it was more trouble than it was fun for me.
I just want the core feature set to be bug free before anything more is being added. I finally want to be able to use this machine without glitches, hiccups and resulting confusion.
Somewhere down the line I hope that a crop sample feature is added so I can finally trim samples like I am used to doing on every other sampler.
Stability is priority for s2400 right now. The next update has a bunch more fixes. DSP Card is a separate chunk of work, I know Brad is keen to get to it, but he mostly on Caladan right now.
Beautiful! It would also be cool to see some love put into the various S2400 MIDI sequencing bugs + a QOL update on that whenever is possible. I know it’s not easy with a small team but for basic “record MIDI as played and generally play it back” level stuff the S2400 is frustratingly close to perfect for running a whole studio full of kit. No hanging notes and basic sustain pedal/pitch bend/mono+poly aftertouch recording and I would sell every other MIDI sequencer I own.
On the latest stable, the bug has occurred again here:. I have to test a bit but I think it had to do with switching to gated playback (where the classic envelope shouldn’t work; why not btw?)
So I figured it out: a variation of the “envelopes don’t work” behaviour is also present when starting a new project after having had another project loaded in.
It’s nice that it retains folders but it really should reset everything else.
Workaround, again, is switching to the other env type, exiting track modes going back in, switch back to the previous one.
