KordBot+ firmware has been proven to be stable enough for public consumption.
It is still in beta, so we ask that you provide feedback, report bugs etc here in the relevant forum categories.
Thanks to all who reported early bugs from the private beta, I have hopefully addressed them all.
I am still editing the user manual, it will follow soon but you probably won’t need it anyway.
This update is currently provided only via our new web updater. To use it, you MUST user either chrome or edge browsers.
It should not matter what firmware you are on currenlty as this completey replaces any old firmware you had previously.
I’ve been trying and i am noticing on style mode while trying out different chords on the left hand side, sometimes same buttons’ chord assignment changes after pressing other buttons. Is this supposed be this way?
yes, it’s imparting a bit of probability.
the same pad produces a different voiceing depending on what chord was played before it.
you can try turning ‘smooth’ either all the way off or in the middle.
To be honest, i’m not really feeling the style mode much anyway, it’s a bit of a failed experiment.

I have a bit of an interesting routing atm. I have a sequencer that outputs midi notes to the Kordbot and from there I am routing the midi output back into the sequencer, and from there routing to different midi channels. The reason for that is I like to keep the main sequencer as the source of truth for midi data. I did this now in the morning to record some chord progressions etc into the sequencer (it’s not the kind that lends itself very well into polyphonic programming so Kordbot update is going to be a life saver). However, only M pads produce chords when triggered via midi. The range of notes that fall outside M Pads coverage, simply play the note. But i’d very much like them to play chords instead, note in → chord out, kind of workflow.
Or is there another way?
It’d be fantastic to have different chords on a given scale/style triggered by a Midi note input on the Kordbot, other than the M Pads assigned which are only 12 options. Like the left hand side on Style Mode for example. Could be a setting on Midi side for example.

So, say set your 4 different rows in diatonic mode, and each of the 32 mod keys is triggered by another midi note?
This will only play what you have the diatonic rows set to though.
That’s also an option but I was curious whether this could be a global setting? (so that the style mode (my favourite) could also be used with this for example)

At the firmware updater I get the: “**Could not open KordBot: Failed to execute ‘open’ on ‘USBDevice’: Access denied.. On Windows, install the WinUSB driver once using Zadig, then try again.”
Installed the WinUSB Driver over Zadig but still no luck.
Tried putting the firmwware to the SD Card root folder and restarted**….
Anything else I can try? I still run on 5.0.08 (last version I was able to install)
I always wanted to send my kordbot in, because my usb is broken.

The new update has been incredibly exciting to dig through. I’ve got a super basic question that I didn’t really see touched upon in the video tutorial, and I’m sure it’s incredibly easy, so I even hesitate to ask.
I remember a few years ago when I was really digging around with this machine, it seemed to be pretty easy to assign chords to the M1 through M12 keys. Like, if I wanted to assign Cm as the chord, I remember pressing the C key, then the minor key on the left-hand side, and then somehow easily I was able to assign that to M1. And then if I wanted to do F#, I could press the F# key and then somehow easily assign that to M2. I’m not sure how I did that or if that is even still a thing with the new setup.
I haven’t played around with doing it from MIDI files yet, as I’d first love to just learn the basics of the new workflow for assigning chord palettes to those M keys.
I have been trying to update the firmware for the last two days with zero success. I think we need the old way back because this is becoming fustrating. I installed zadig, tried 3 different browser, still not possible. I also did all the necessary changes so the browser will be able to see kordbot.
All the old tools and firmwares are in the archive folder on the download page.
I also uploaded the sd card version of the update, but you would need to be on at least the old version 6 for sd card updates to work.
ok now ableton can not see my kordbot anymore. I tried everything. windows see kordbot but not my DAW. my kordbot is still running on 5.0.08 version. I really dont know how to proceed from here.
OK i got the latest firmware and it looks fine but ableton still cant see it. i tried to change cables and usb port, u name it. windows sees it but not ableton.
Well, it took two tries to get here, but my Kordbot is finally modern!!! I was stuck on a 2021 firmware build, and had no joy in updating from my Mac. Brad, YOU did it! Thank you for bringing this beast up to the new age of blah blah blah (hype). It looks great, and I can’t wait to dig in!
I’m confused about the metronome , it plays the plugins patch . do you just assign something else to that channel? also in the sequencer can you edit the notes on and off and advance the pages to do so without playing it from the start .
The record on and off control only appears when you hold shift and a chord button so i feel it should be there all the time .
will din out start a 303? will midi in via usb start the kordbot sequence from a daw?
